PLATELET RICH FIBRIN (PRF)
PRF is an injectable that uses a patient’s own blood to help treat facial imperfections. PRF is the newest treatment when it comes to blood concentration therapy. PRF is similar to PRP, but it does so much more. This newest innovation in Platelet Therapy helps build collagen in a matter of days. PRF uses a patient’s blood to help get platelets, white blood cells, fibrin and stem cells.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
After collecting a small sample of the patient's blood, it is spun in a centrifuge to separate out the platelet-rich plasma. The red blood cells sink to the bottom due to their higher density, while the plasma and platelets collect at the upper part of the tube.
As a concentrated source of blood plasma, PRP includes several different growth factors and other cytokines that can promote the regeneration process of soft tissues. The growth factors in PRP activate your adult stem cells in and under your skin. This stem cell activity results in the enhancement of skin quality and elasticity, improved blood flow and blood supply, new collagen, and new tissue.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRP & PRF?
Since PRF is similar to PRP, it uses the same centrifuge procedure, but at different rate of speed. What makes this procedure different than PRP is it uses low speed centrifugation. Using a lower spin speed helps to get the fibrin and other growth factors to the top, which is essential to PRF treatments.
